If you are an Independent Artist who has alot of talent, alot to sing about, and have songs in your repertoire that you would classify as inspirational, you might want to consider submitting your music for airplay at Breakaway.
We will only consider music that we deem as 'Inspirational' music. This does not mean that it has to be any particular genre of music. Songs about love, faith, hope, and life in general would be considered in any genre. Think overcoming struggles, something to look forward to, family bonds, reasons to be happy, and things like that.
No explicit lyrics will be considered. We simply don't want to hear that, so please don't send in such materials.
Only 'radio-quality' production will be considered. If you are unsure about this standard, please check out some of the websites of our currently listed independent artists.
Instrumentals are welcomed as well for our hour-long weekly segment called 'The Music Side of Life'. Have your music on the playlist along with record-label artists.
You must own all the rights to your music. All submitted music must be original. No covers please. Our goal is to promote independent inspirational artists who have something to say on their own.
You must have a professional website of your own and/or one dedicated to the distribution of your music. Indieheaven, Shoutlife, MySpace, Soundclick, Cdbaby, Sonicbids, Broadjam, etc. will do just fine. There must be a place where your fans can go to purchase your music. Please be prepared to indicate the web address along with your song submission.
You must have a professional photo of you/your band that can be uploaded to our site for our 'Independent Artist' page.
Only send in 1 or 2 songs. If you send in more than two, we will listen to the first two only on file and discard any others.
We only accept MP3 128 kbps. No other files will be considered. You can convert other files to 128 with iTunes very easily. Other systems work fine too, but we find iTunes easiest to use, especially if you're not really computer savvy. Just go to your iTunes menu (if you don't have iTunes you can download it for free at www.itunes.com) and click on EDIT. From EDIT, click on PRERENCES. Under GENERAL select IMPORT SETTINGS. Under IMPORT USING select MP3 ENCODER. Under SETTINGS select 128 kbps. Now all you have to do is import your music to iTunes. It will convert automatically. If you already have an MP3 version of your song in 160 or 192, after you've completed the import settings above, just right click on your song and select create MP3 version. It will automatically create it at 128. If we've just totally confused you, just use iTunes help.
Review time is 3 weeks. You will hear from us within 3 weeks of your submission. Your response will either be 'Congratulations -Accepted' or 'Sorry-Not Accepted' with a brief explanation as to why not. We are artists ourselves, and we understand the need for an explanation in such matters.
